Who's the Man?

Who's the man?
    Joe Tiller's the man.

Who's the man?
    Joe Tiller's the man.

A simple question; a simple answer. The "Who's the Man" Chant should have been obvious to everyone from Day One of the Tiller Era, but it was not until the Purdue-IU game that it was born. On that glorious day, a group of Purdue Alums outside an Indiana University Pup Tent turned Media Room crystallized what every Boiler fan had come to realize: Joe Tiller is the man.

Oddly enough, the chant did not meet with instant worldwide approval. As a matter of fact, one sportswriter told the group of dedicated fans to "Keep it down so I can do my job!" Could this chant have been off-base? Annoying? Misplaced? Unwarranted? Or could that outburst simply have been the ramblings of an IU grad who had high hopes of Cam Cameron being proclaimed "The Man"?

The group had no answers...until another great man appeared in the form of the written word. That man is Reggie Hayes, sportswriter, and defender of all that is true and good about sports in America. Reggie informed readers all across the land that Joe Tiller is INDEED the man, and it IS a fact worthy of shouting from the highest mountain to the lowest valley.

Charged by acceptance, the group pressed on. All must hear, all must know, all must verify that Joe Tiller is the Man! The group headed to San Antonio to share this great joy with all who would listen.

Through Reggie's empowerment, the mission was a complete success. Led by signs made to tutor the willing but previously uneducated, every Purdue fan along the way would come to express what had been in the heart for weeks: Joe Tiller is the man! They shouted it on the RiverWalk, they shouted it inside and outside the Alamo Dome, they shouted it in the Marriott Hotel, they shouted it in airports, ... you name it. Against all odds of a few short weeks ago, Purdue fans were now liberated to speak their minds. And what was on their minds? They had been witness as A man became THE man. That's right, Joe Tiller is the Man!

Please enjoy these pictures of the "Who's the Man" Chant. And, please, take some quiet time to remember those brave men and women that kept the thought alive in times of great turmoil and strife.
